Standard Metal-Tacks are manufactured from alloy carbon steel and are heat treated and annealed. Stainless tacks are made from number 455 stainless. This material has enough steel in it to be heat treated and will stick to a magnet. Other materials are available by special quotation.
Metal-Tacks will withstand temperatures from -325 degrees F. to 1000 degrees F. after they have been driven.
All Metal-Tack fasteners are copper/nickel plated .0002"(.005mm). Other platings and finishes are available upon request.
Metal-Tacks will not cause stress risers. This fastener works by cold forming a very small area and does not cause any stress lines or fractures. A math model showing the affected area of the base material is available.
Generally, the Metal-Tack requires an 1/8" of base material that will cold form and is below Rockwell b l00 or Brinell 240.
